2023 Laureate Phyllis Omido in front of the court of appeal. The Judgement of the Owinouhuru case had been defferred a record 8 times over a span of 2 years. Omido mobilised the community to walk to the court of appeal and staged a seat in to protest the delayed delivering of judgement of the Owinouhuru environmental public interest litigation case. This prompted the court to deliver the judgent which gave them a partial win but required that they litigate on the issue of quantum and amount to be paid to the victims of the pollution.
